Née by Lisa blends dressmaking, craftsmanship and embroidery with sustainability.  Our aim is to take what isn't used, whether it's been discarded, forgotten or it's just buried at the bottom of the wardrobe, and give it a new life with a reduced impact on the planet.  I strive to inspire people to reimagine or repair their existing wardrobe where possible, to create ‘new’ garments and accessories using existing sustainably sourced materials. ​

Née by Lisa has multiple meanings, Née represents the born again nature of repurposing used materials, and it's a play on 'nee Knee' (since my maiden name is Knee).

Following a successful career in administration, planning and management I craved a change, and returned to my creative roots building Née by Lisa and making things that people would love. With a focus on reusing, repairing and loving what we already have in circulation, to help contribute to a more sustainable fashion future.

I am Lisa, the founder and I have over forty years of dressmaking experience. My mum taught me when I was very young and as I grew up I learnt to alter my clothes to fit me and make suits, coats and dresses for myself, friends and family. I also have experience of designing, making made to measure clothes, altering patterns, mending and adding unique customisations. At University I studied Photography and learnt bookbinding, which also enables me to offer bespoke books, albums and invitations to help you treasure what is important to you.
