After working in administration, Planning and management for over 25 years I decided to return to my creative roots and make things, setting up Née by Lisa in July 25 before leaving NTU.  My focus is on reusing, repairing and using what we already have in circulation, to help people contribute to a more sustainable fashion future.

 

The Née in the name represents the born again nature of repurposing used materials - and as a play on 'nee Knee'  (my maiden name is Knee).  Née by Lisa blends dressmaking, craftsmanship and embroidery with sustainability.  Our aim is to take what isn't used, whether it's been discarded, forgotten or doesn't suit and give it new form and a new life, with a reduced impact on the planet.  Inspiring people to reimagine or repair their existing  wardrobe to create ‘new’ garments and accessories and creating made to measure, purpose made garments, using sustainably sourced materials.

Our sources of material range from vintage linens, used bedlinen or curtains, second hand clothing, deadstock material and a small range of sustainably made linens, cottons and wools. We can discuss needs and source material for you, as well as working with your existing materials to repurpose into 'new' wearables that will last.

I have over forty years of dressmaking and tailoring designs to help me to create something completely unique for you. My mum taught me when I was young and as a teen child I made suits, coats and dresses for me and friends. I also have experience of designing and making made to measure occasion wear, everyday clothes, pattern making, mending and alterations to customise your wardrobe. At University I studied Photography, learnt bookbinding and I am able to offer a range of services to help you treasure what is important to you.
