No Waste - Blue Kimono Top

I picked up a couple of remnants from Merchant & Mills of the Soft Stitch Jacquard cotton. Both pieces were under a metre (0.5 and 0.6), so I thought it would be fun to see what I could do with them.

The material is really soft, with texture and a cosy feel to the touch. I decided it lent itself quite well to a Kimono style top and that I could make one using both pieces and minimal waste.

As the material is quite thick I decided to bind the edges of the sleeve and neck with some offcuts of cotton lawn I had in my scraps basket, the colours and style of the print works well I think.

I think this will be my sewing top (keep me warm through winter) - also a handy template for future Kimono style tops or robes.
