Skirt from a Vintage Sari

A custom skirt with asymmetric hem, multiple layers, curved pockets and made from a vintage Sari. The design came first and was refined working with the client, then pattern designed and made up from the Sari.

As a vintage piece of material it was delicate and had some small areas of damage to avoid when cutting. Tailors canvas was also used to reinforce the waist and pockets.

The pattern of the Sari was in blocks of orange, red and green, so some careful matching was needed to ensure the pieces blended.
